Hear new tune by Phil and the Osophers now via Relix

SONG POST

Brooklyn’s Phil and the Osophers, essentially the one-man project of Phil Radiotes, has dropped a new single “Bee Liner,” which is available via the current Relix Magazine sampler, and on all streaming services. The forthcoming music video for the tune promises to be epic.

"The video makes use of the Fairlight CVI, “an amazing, long lost video synthesizer from the 80s,” Radiotes says.

Furthermore, while explaining more about the Fairlight CVI, Radiotes casually mentions the following: “I was first introduced to it when I was super young.  I did a music service video to Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad.’

Naturally, this footage has now been dragged out of retirement.

“I have to brace for the reaction to it,” Radiotes says. “That video has been put on at family events, to my embarrassment. But I guess it’s the perfect companion piece to ‘Bee Liner,’ so perhaps it’s time to have it out there.”

NEWS

Denton, Texas is the home of Chris Welch & The Cicada Killers, introduced as the “fabulous Cicada Killers” on “Cicada Sweat,” the James Brown-inspired opening track of Shook, the north Texas band’s upcoming sophomore album, which follows-up its 2017 debut Faded & Frayed.

The pronouncement is the only vocal on the song, an improvisational moment that the band loved and kept, but it’s all that’s needed: The Cicada Killers’ unique brand of soul, shimmy, and shake speaks for itself.

The comedic music video for the album track “Shoenapper” is already circulating. Shook by Chris Welch and The Cicada Killers arrives on Feb. 22nd, 2019 preceded by the single and music video “Borrowed Repertoire”.

Seattle's Loose Wing to release self-titled debut album March 22nd

NEWS

Loose Wing is a new Seattle-based band fronted by songwriter Claire Tucker. The four-piece group will issue its self-titled debut album on March 22nd, consisting of nine songs that fearlessly explore themes of anxiety, isolation, intimacy, and teen angst that has yet to be outgrown. Despite the weighty subject matter, Tucker’s tunes maintain an easy confidence throughout the album, with melodies that often remind of a Neko Case or PJ Harvey-fronted R.E.M., which despite that band’s origins in the furthest continental corner (Athens, GA) from the home of grunge, has always maintained a spiritual tie to Seattle. Other contemporary influences on Loose Wing include Kate Bush and Guided by Voices.

BuzzBands.LA shares latest Fawns of Love single "December"

SONG POST

"'December' is built upon the shoulders of The Cure and Slowdive with its swimming guitar lines and washes of hazy, bright synths. Jenny’s pillowy, echoing vocals are also reminiscent of Cocteau TwinsElizabeth Fraser and Enya. In this incarnation, Fawns of Love have perhaps unlocked the best supergroup combination with their own return." - BuzzBands.LA
