About Josh Bloom & FANATIC
Josh Bloom didn’t intend to become a music industry veteran when he began writing about music at the age of ten. Three decades made him one. He stands up for artists who want someone on their side who calls out bad deals and knows when to say, “Don’t do that. Do this.” He is the founder of Fanatic Promotion and the author of The Apples In Stereo.
Since the inception of Fanatic Promotion in 1997, founder Josh Bloom has established a reputation as a passionate artist advocate, and Fanatic as a taste making and sales driving agency.
Josh’s music industry experiences in that time have helped keep him true to his conviction that nothing has as much meaning as the relationship between the listener and the song.
Today, Fanatic campaigns, consultancy, and career coaching via its Industry By The Hour® service, continue to be strategized and administered top down by Josh.
We all know how much just one song can affect us. It continues to be Josh’s aim to create those moments, as a fan and as Fanatic.

MORE ABOUT JOSH
Josh Bloom was already deep into a lifelong fascination with music, films, and writers by the age of ten. He published and distributed his own neighborhood newsletter at nine, hosted a college radio program at fifteen, and produced a cable access television show in NYC at twenty-one.
Josh didn’t mean to become a music industry veteran and cultural commentator. Three decades in the business made him one. After founding Fanatic Promotion in 1997, Josh became known as someone who stands up for artists by calling out bad deals and saying, “Don’t do that. Do this.”
In 2025, Josh formally established the aspect of Fanatic Promotion’s services that had become the most personally fulfilling part of his work. Fanatic’s coaching and career advocacy arm Industry By The Hour® helps artists shape not only their promotion, but also their stories and creative lives.
Today, after thirty years of helping other artists find their voices, Josh has increasingly returned to focusing on developing his own.
He is the author of The Apples In Stereo, the first biography of a core Elephant 6 collective band, and his extensive body of long-form writing and short-form video work pushes boundaries to explore issues of creativity, identity, and the psychological and emotional realities of making art in public. Entertaining an audience is his top priority.
According to boring analytics, Josh’s work so far has been seen by millions. He finds it less boring imagining it impacting real people. Josh lives in Peekskill, New York, and believes in its official slogan: “A Friendly Town.”
