Mixed Alternative Magazine talks about the importance of self care with Pacifico's Matthew Schwartz

TRACK FEATURE

Matthew Schwartz of Pacifico recently chatted with Mixed Alternative about the upcoming album ๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ง ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ (February 10, Pacifirecords) and some of the folks who helped make this album as great as it is!

"I LOVE to collaborate with people. I think it only helps to make the music better," says Schwartz. "For the new album, I collaborated with Shane Tutmarc of Dolour, Peter Randall โ€” bass player for Adele, Matt Bowers of House Of Fools, Ben Herrington of Minos The Saint, Matt Tuttle of Codeseven, and the famous producer Aaron Sprinkle."

I Was A King's "Growing Wild," writes Austin Town Hall, is "incredible"

Pacifico shares the upbeat video for "Don't Play Dead"

PREMIERE

"Don't Play Dead" is the first single and video from the first album in five years from Pacifico. ๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ง ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ arrives on February 10 via Pacifirecords.

Despite this song being about surviving depression, or more so about what comes before survival, it's still about the catchiest thing you're going to hear all day!

"Punchy and driving pop-rock... An impressive array of unassailable hooks," says Immersive Atlanta (see, I told you).

Even the director of the video, Dustin Jacobs, managed to find the light: "At the center is this couple. She's depressed, but heโ€™s an eternal optimist, so he finds the joy and tries to share it with her."

Immersive Atlanta posts "Don't Play Dead," Pacifico's energetic introduction to ๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ง ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ

PREMIERE

I'm a huge fan of songs about small victories in the battle with depression, wrapped in hook-filled pop-rock writing and production.

Here's one!

The first single from ๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ง ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ (Feb. 10, Pacifirecords), the first album in five years by Pacifico, "makes for an energetic (not to mention empathetic) introduction," according to Immersive Atlanta in its premiere of "Don't Play Dead," out everywhere tomorrow.

"Itโ€™s a punchy and driving pop-rock anthem. Schwartz and company lead with their hearts, delivering nurturing support with an impressive array of unassailable hooks."

Ivory Fields drops new single "Blasted," which New Noise calls "overwhelming and omnipresent"

TRACK PREMIERE

We've got another Ivory Fields single dropping today! "Blasted" premiered yesterday over at New Noise Magazine.

Ivory Fields is the duo of Mahadev (Gangi, Fake Estates, Current Pathways) and Ale Cohen (Pharaohs Languis, dublab).

โ€œAle came up with the title โ€˜Blastedโ€™ first, which inspired the song,โ€ says Mahadev. Cohen adds, โ€œโ€˜Blastedโ€™ is our closest example of a pop track, but in our own abstract and cosmic way.โ€

According to New Noise, โ€œIndeed, the music here often feels like it is both floating just out of grasp and overwhelming and omnipresent at the same time.โ€ Click for your life!

Melinda Sullivan teaches Alex Lilly to tap in the new video for "Melinda"

PREMIERE

Today, Melinda is in the house (to teach Alex Lilly how to tap)!

Alex had this cool side hustle during the early pandy where she took commissions to write what she calls "jingles for humans" (and even some pets). She says, "I have a hetero-girl crush on the supremely talented and unique Melinda Sullivan. Melinda's man asked me to write a jingle for her.

"Her jingle is a true story! We appeared in a music video together, pretended to kiss, and... oh, those lips! We also played at The Gardenia. The song is a play-by-play! I was delighted when she agreed to give me a tap lesson for the 'Melinda' video."

"Melinda" also features saxophone by James King from Fitz and the Tantrums, drums by Barbara Gruska from Belle Brigade, and bass by Gabe Noel. The new Alex Lilly album ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜๐˜ด ๐˜ˆ ๐˜š๐˜ช๐˜ฏ is out October 21 on Release Me Records.

Buzzbands highlights Ivory Fields, which "combines the talents of Two of LA's more plucky sonic explorers"

FEATURE

Some Ivory Fields love over at BuzzBands.LA!

"Ivory Fields combines the talents of two of L.A.โ€™s more plucky sonic explorers... Ivory Fieldsโ€™ self-titled album, out Oct. 28, combines densely layered synths, beats, guitars and vocals in a way that at first blush seems amorphous โ€” defiantly avant-garde swathes of sound that hint at dream-pop and dark, left-field techno."

Alex Lilly's "Melinda" was developed from her series of "theme songs for humans"

PREMIERE

"Melinda" lives!

Alex Lilly had this cool side hustle during the early pandy where she took commissions to write "theme songs for humans." Some of these songs, including this cut "Melinda," got developed into full productions on Alex's upcoming new album (October 21, Release Me Records).

Alex says, โ€œMelinda is an incredible tap dancer and her hubby contacted me about writing a jingle in her honor. I was delighted as Iโ€™ve always been slightly (healthily) obsessed with her."

The tune also features saxophone by James King from Fitz & The Tantrums, drums by Barbara Gruska from Belle Brigade, and bass by Gabe Noel.

Be sure to watch the "Pure Drivel" video, too, which was shot in Berlin (featuring choreographed dances with books!) at the Bezirkszentralbibliothek (District Central Library), which doesn't typically allow such things!

Via Glide, see the video for the "danceable and mysterious" Ivory Fields track "As If"

VIDEO PREMIERE

I love what video director Alex Pelly did with the debut Ivory Fields single "As If.โ€ She says, "The 'As If' video illuminates the band in flashes of warm and cold light generated through audio reactive modular video synthesis, and filmed on an 80s security camera."

See it now over at Glide Magazine. They say the song is "brimming with a melange of enticing synth sounds that keep you listening. The music is danceable and mysterious, with a touch of 80s contrasting with its distinctly modern sound."

Go see and hear for yourself and pre-save the debut album (out October 28) here.
