Elroy’s “Worth The Wait" is out a week from today. I could say it will be “worth the wait," but you can ignore that pun and just listen to the song right now over at It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine.
The self-titled album from the Finn family member (Elroy can also be see on drums with his dad Neil Finn’s band Crowded House, and has collaborated with Wild Nothing and Connan Mockasin) is out August 13 on Grand Phony.
Wednesday - it contains the word "wed." When watching (on a phone, as intended) the music video for Chris J. Norwood’s supremely catchy "I Need You (To Quit Breaking My Heart}," one has to wonder if Chris and his wife Carrie are going to hit the rocks. It's called suspense, folks… get into it!

J Hacha De Zola’s fifth album East Of Eden is out now and receiving lots of love because it's lovely. Ghettoblaster has been going deep, interviewing De Zola and naming the deep cut "Sad Song” - a deep song itself - as one of the "The Best Songs This Year (So Far)," saying, “It’s a love song that has no comparison in its majesty." Well, damn!
The video for "Take You Seriously" by God of Love has got some dark vibes. Thanks to Spill Magazine for the premiere! According to James Burnett, “I always imagine God Of Love arrives where he is going with purpose and intensity and this video represents not only that deliberate preparation but also the sort of insanity it takes to make music and to perform. So there is a sort of romantic madness involved…”
Visit Bad Copy to stream the newest advance single, “Ms. Fortune and Her Mate,” from The Enigmatic Foe’s upcoming 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯. The site writes that this is “music that sticks,” due to Jared Colinger’s penchant for “articulating those all-too-common solitary feelings of self-doubt and inauthenticity.”

In a far-reaching interview, J Hacha De Zola tells Ghettoblaster about a grip of heady topics including growing up as the son of immigrants, his early love for Afro-Cuban music, and how he’s always striving to create something unique with his music. He’s succeeded on 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘥𝘦𝘯 (out now via Caballo Negro), which, as Ghettoblaster notes, is a vivid expansion of his “urban junkyard” aesthetic.
Elroy’s “Excite Me Much,” writes Glide Magazine, “is a quiet and meditative morsel of indie pop [on which] Elroy is accompanied by minimal instrumentation beyond a drum machine and orchestra synths.” Glide has the premiere of the “darkly infectious” tune’s video.
Get excited! Grand Phony Music releases Elroy’s eponymous debut on August 13.
Who knew sociopathy could sound so good? According to Fair Shake and Just Desserts, “perky percussion and stabby synths aside, … there's definitely an endemic level of sociopathology going on behind that turbulent mix that can't even be concealed behind the catchy hook [of God of Love’s ‘Take You Seriously.’] … It may not be a total shock to learn that the first song that came to my mind when spinning ‘Take You Seriously’ was a similarly noisy number that sprung forth from two pretty dark genius minds, Leonard Cohen and Phil Spector.”

J Hacha De Zola is reaching lots of new listeners with his fifth album 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘥𝘦𝘯, where his eccentricities as a musician and performer have found just the right mix with his endearing songwriting.
Today, Rock & Roll Globe’s J. Poet writes that he’s “created a new sonic landscape… His warm baritone is at the center of the mix, and the comforting harmonies that grace the tracks suggest the cheery vocals of the soul and doo-wop hits that provided his inspiration."
Buzzmusic calls “Turn on You,” the debut single from Abbrevations, “a compelling record sure to get your thoughts spinning.” The site’s new interview with the band’s Ashley Leer includes clues as to what the Red Zeppelin-associated quartet has in store for the future.

"Turn On You,” the first single by Abbreviations, now has a video that similarly channels the laid-back feel of the song. Thanks out to Jen Dan at Big Takeover for scooping this up. She says, “The song is deeper than most dream pop songs will go, typically awash in too much gauzy sonics to be this lucid.
