It's Psychedelic Baby announces J Hacha De Zola's new "not acoustic" project

VIDEO PREMIERE

J Hacha De Zola keeps evolving! First, with last summer's epic ๐˜Œ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ต ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜Œ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ, and now - as he finishes the follow-up album - this four-song "visual" EP dropping on Friday called โ€œNot Acoustic,โ€ out this Friday. Today, Itโ€™s Psychedelic Baby is screening "Strange" for us, the first of four tunes from his catalog shot solo and live-to-camera in the studio. This is J in character but raw, poised but imperfect.

The Boot compares Linda Draper to Joan Baez while sharing acoustic "Tether," from new album dropping this week

PREMIERE

New music from Linda Draper this morning over at The Boot! The acoustic version of Linda's protest song "Tether" closes her new album ๐˜—๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฌ, out this Friday.

"Evoking the righteous political folk storytelling of Joan Baez,โ€ the site says, โ€œthe song is a powerful testament to the frustration and mourning many people have experienced throughout the pandemic. Over building fingerstyle guitar and a barebones backing fiddle, Draper's voice takes center stage to express exactly how she feels."

Release show this Friday in Brooklyn at Peteโ€™s Candy Store. RSVP here.

Glide Mag says Later Fortune's Bowie cover would make the Thin White Duke smile

TRACK PREMIERE

Good day, brave souls of the internet! While you are consuming your coffee and Wordle (you know you do it!), please click on over to our friends at Glide Magazine for the premiere of "Win," a synthy cover of the David Bowie deep cut by Later Fortune aka Philly-based musicians Chet Delcampo and Heyward Howkins.

Glide says it's "a truly stirring rendition that would make Bowie smile." If it would make Bowie smile, then it's bound to make you feel some kind of way, yes? I don't know if Wordle accepts proper nouns, but with Bowie being five letters, perhaps all of this can make some kind of sense.

โ€œLateral To The Devilโ€ b/w/ โ€œWin,โ€ the upcoming single from Later Fortune, arrives Feb. 11th, 2022.

J Hacha De Zola makes Adam B's year-end list

FEATURE

The one-man wrecking crew Adam Bernard ((of Adamโ€™s World) was one of the first to the party on J Hacha De Zola; now East of Eden, the latest crystallization of Jโ€™s tunes, has landed on Adam's "Must Hear" list. He notes Jโ€™s sonic journey from a Frank Zappa-inspired psycho into an โ€œabsolutely fantasticโ€ purveyor of Doors-type blues-psych.

It don't stop in the two-two! See you on the other sideโ€ฆ I made two more references to The Doors there, I hope you enjoy.

The Big Takeover shares a new High Water Marks song

TRACK PREMIERE

More music today from the upcoming new album by The High Water Marks! "Reason Vs. Truth" is a deep cut from the record premiering today over at The Big Take Over.

I hope I'm not being tracked when I post this, but Hilarie Sidney provided the following: "This song is about a guy who tried to run away from a lot of trouble. We heard that he might or might not be a member of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. He doesnโ€™t know that we know that he knows." Well!

Proclaimer of Things is out February 4 from Minty Fresh with vinyl goodness to follow shortly thereafter.

โ€œJ's music is an ode to strangeness, an invitation to dream and wander through dark, deeply poetic tales," says director/editor Victoria Rio. "The video was shot in a gorgeous derelict townhouse in the heart of London. We were incredibly lucky to be able to film in this location.โ€

Adobe & Teardrops sets Jenny Parrott's new video - shot at Austin's Hole in the Wall - free

VIDEO PREMIERE

Shot in the bathroom at Austin's Hole In The Wall, "where women, femmes and non-binary people go to hang out," I've been waiting to set this video free for a minute! Jenny Parrott directed and stars in this done-in-one-take piece for her song "I Thought," which also features appearances by dancer Terrance Carson of Ballet Afrique, Ally Means on viola, and Carrie Jane Fink.

So stark, and fun, and moving all at the same time, go over to Adobe and Teardrops to watch and to also read an interview with Jenny, who talks about her vision for a more just music industry, how her coming out journey plays into her music, and more.

๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ ๐˜š๐˜ข๐˜ธ is out tomorrow (Friday, November 12), with the record release show tomorrow night at the aforementioned Hole in the Wall.

Americana Highways premieres Linda Draper's "'81 Camaro" and includes it on the "New Americana" Spotify playlist

Video Premiere

I'm excited about the way Linda Draper manages to infuse this easy-breezy country number, โ€œโ€™81 Camaro,โ€ with candid, emotional ambiguity, a trademark traceable to her anti-folk roots. It's the trick of a master and Linda brings the same energy to the video (featuring authentic country line-dancing filmed at Cowboys in Orlando). She tells us, โ€œI have never had more fun making a music video. We shot it in Orlando, partially at Fun Spot amusement park, checking out the coolest classic car show in town, playing games in the arcade, going on rides, and drinking beer.โ€

Americana Highways has the video premiere and writes that the song carries โ€œfeelings of longing, in a delightfully blended brew." The site has also featured the track on its new "New Americana" Spotify playlist, a veritable treasure trove of great new songs. I love when artists discover kindred spirits this way, as Linda did this weekend when she discovered Julian Taylorโ€™s tune "It's Not Enough" and promptly knocked out a TikTok cover. Julian says, โ€œIโ€™ve never had anyone on TikTok sing along with one songs. Thank you Linda. You made my day :-)โ€ If youโ€™re on TikTok, why not give Linda a follow?

New album ๐˜—๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฌ is out January 21.

Hilarie Sidney shares a fun family story - and the new High Water Marks video - with MXDWN

TRACK PREMIERE

New video from The High Water Marks today via MXDWN! The visual is a blast, but my favorite part of this piece is Hilarie Sidneyโ€™s story about her great-grandfather, who appears in a childhood photo on the "Proclaimer of Things" single cover art. She says that he โ€œwas so good at skating and doing tricks on both the bike and the skates that he started performing around the Midwest. He went under the moniker Little Willy Sidney, and Wee Willy Sidney." So much to love about that! New album out February 4 courtesy of Minty Fresh

The title track from the upcoming new album ๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ด by The High Water Marks is streaming the day before release over at Under The Radar Magazine. "'Proclaimer of Things,โ€™โ€ they say, โ€œoffers up plenty of the potent melodies and propulsive hooks that have become the bandโ€™s signature. An irresistible power pop gem." Well, damn - that's what's up! Link in bio. Pre-save the song and prepare for the album drop via Minty Fresh Music on February 4.
