Blesson Roy continues the trip towards the release of Think Like Spring on Nov. 27th, with more trippiness! There's a pattern here, and the video for the latest single "Stays With You" follows it. This clip by visual artist, Malone, makes quick work getting into your mind, just like the song itself. It's a sweet 1:52! Put it on repeat over at New Noise Magazine!
Go to MXDWN for the premiere of “Stays With You,” the newest single from the upcoming Blesson Roy LP Think Like Spring. The site calls it “intricately-arranged pop” and says “the song features a distant, delicately-picked guitar riff at its opening and Borden’s vocals low in the mix, recalling his biggest influences like Creation Records, 4AD, and Rough Trade.”
Think Like Spring is coming at the end of November from Slow Start Records.
Treble Zine has shared the “hazy yet lo-fi” clip for “Bungleweed Motherwort” by Figg, which it calls a “lovely, stripped-down dream folk tune.” The video was produced by the band’s Gilden Tunador and edited by Hector Gallardo of Subharmonic City.
According to Tunador, “the video’s visuals are a nod to My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless album cover…”
This morning, Rolling Stone premiered the epic new video from Mike Viola. Directed by Caitlin Gerard and featuring the talents of Mandy Moore, Christian Lee Hutson, Allie Buckley, Sharon Silva, and Tim Adams. Legend has it that vampires can’t expose themselves to sunlight, but Viola begs to differ
“Drug Rug” comes from Godmuffin, his upcoming LP available Dec. 11 via Grand Phony and Good Morning Monkey.
Thanks to American Songwriter for not only premiering the new Christopher The Conquered non-album track “Paper Man” but for sharing it with such stunning praise. According to the site, it’s “an opus, reminiscent of the soulful cabaret of Anohni (Antony and the Johnsons) and the operatic range of Freddie Mercury (or perhaps more accurately, Hedwig) merged with a piano bar pianist who just had his heart handed to him on a platter."
Austin-based brother/sister duo Charlie Belle have bee praised by NPR, The Austin Chronicle, NYLON, Noisey, and more. Now, Glide Mag has the video for their new song “Looking For Magic.“
Glide writes, “With a feisty and funky guitar line, the song captures the duo’s penchant for writing radio-friendly songs that still feel rooted in indie rock. There is a smoothness to the song that is conveyed both in the laid back groove and in Jendayi’s effortlessly cool vocals that linger in your mind long after listening. Jendayi and Gyasi Bonds also harmonize in the way that only siblings can do, and as the song builds, it veers from indie rock into R&B territory. I kinda wish all of you could just hear this entire Mike Viola album right now, because it's uplifting, real, and frank as hell in a way that we all could use at the moment.

"Undertow" is from all-killer, no-filler Think Like Spring, out Nov. 27. This is not to say that killers (movie villains are a thing, no?) and fillers (hey, I've enjoyed eating a few extra bites in my day!) are all bad, but really, this album is fantastic, and project mastermind Terry Borden ought to be pretty damn proud of his work on this one!

So, I called up Brian Eno and said, "Hey, my peeps in Figg are premiering a cover of your song 'Needle In The Camel's Eye' at Surviving The Golden Age on Thursday. Can you announce your new album at the exact same time?" His reply? "Yes, my dawg, yes."
Figg recorded this version a decade ago during the sessions for their debut album which was finally released this year. Album two will come along much sooner, promise!

Three solo albums during the pandemic (the third, Black Planet - out Sept. 18 - includes the 13-minute Prince / Miles Davis mind-bender tribute, "Voodoo") and the latest EP from The Pinx (Electric!, out now) with its Mad Alchemist Liquid Lite Show-created oil projection visualization. JJ Koczan at The Obelisk says, "Stylistic turns are quick and unannounced but a pleasure to follow. Pretense is nowhere to be found. It sounds like rock and roll to me."
